• This VHF SRC course follows European CEPT/ERC/REC 31-04 recommendations and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standards for non-commercial pleasure craft radio operators.
• The course content has been reviewed with input from the Seafarers’ Register of the Latvian Maritime Administration, and relevant recommendations have been incorporated.
• The course is recommended by the Latvian Coast Guard and MRCC Riga as a training resource to support safety awareness and the correct use of marine VHF communications.
• The SRC VHF radio certificate is commonly requested by yacht charter companies and is also required for MMSI registration under various flag states.
• The certificate is issued by a private training provider and is intended for non-commercial use on pleasure craft.
• Marine VHF radio certificates exist in different types and levels and are not universally valid worldwide or even across all European countries. Final acceptance of any maritime certificate is determined by the requirements of the flag state and may also be subject to additional requirements imposed by the charter company or insurer. Some administrations or operators may require specific certificates, including an STCW-based, state-issued certificate, especially for professional or commercial use.
